Sodalite vs Lapis Lazuli: What’s the difference?

Though crystals have their own unique identities they can also have many similarities. Sodalite and Lapis Lazuli are two of the most commonly compared semi-precious stones that have sparked interest from across the spiritual community. So what is the difference between them and what makes these crystals so hard to tell them apart? 

Appearance

On the surface, Lapis Lazuli and Sodalite are extremely similar and have confused many crystal enthusiasts. Typically, Sodalite tends to be darker in colour with its deep and mystical tones while Lapis Lazuli has a royal blue finish.
