Though crystals have their own unique identities they can also have many similarities. Sodalite and Lapis Lazuli are two of the most commonly compared semi-precious stones that have sparked interest from across the spiritual community. So what is the difference between them and what makes these crystals so hard to tell them apart? 

Appearance

On the surface, Lapis Lazuli and Sodalite are extremely similar and have confused many crystal enthusiasts. Both stones are rich with a captivating blue, its striking colour is an attractive feature that draws in both the eye and the spirit. Typically, Sodalite tends to be darker in colour with its deep and mystical tones while Lapis Lazuli has a royal blue finish.

One of the biggest differentiators between these crystals is the specks of gold that can be found throughout Lapis Lazuli. These pyrite inclusions are a tell-tale sign that separates it from Sodalite. However, in some cases, these gold freckles cannot be seen in Lapis Lazuli, particularly when it is in its raw form.

Both of these crystals have white calcite elements that can be found throughout them. Distinctively, Sodalite has white veins that flow through its structure while Lapis Lazuli has a slightly granular appearance in comparison.
